Platycerium ridleyi NEW!
The iconic, and probably the most sought after Southeast Asian native specie, characterized by unique upright forked leaves, which resemble a deer’s antlers, and deeply grooved shield fronds. It is also one of the two species (another is P. coronarium) that produce separated spore pods, instead of spore patches underside of the fertile fronds.
It usually said to be a challenge specie because its preperences is rather difficult to provide in cultivation. The major key to success is water as less as possible and let it survive by high humidity and good air movement. The best humidity should be above 80%. At this point, water once a week is enough, and make sure leaves dry out before night time. Mounting on tree-fern plaques with high quality sphagnum is the better way if controlling water is an issue.
