Selaginella sp. Laos (W) NEW!
The latest iridescent species recently discovered in karst limestone region of Khammouane, Central Laos and now becomes the smallest Selaginella of our collection that we have been cultivating for a few years to see what they need and vegetative cycle.
If you are our old customer who already have the Chinese species (SKU : SLL-SPF), we would say this dweller is in much smaller size! Comparison picture shows you what we mentioned. It does not mould, instead spreads slowly and forms a tight clump, with more intense electric blue color that can be in deep purple when expose to high light level.
Of course, this species does not invasive nor rampant and will never overwhelm a small space. We found it is tolerates for lower humidity (below 60%) better than other blue species. Even so, the best color usually occurs when the plant are kept in 80% or above humidity and under light level 850-1,100 Lux. Adding 10% by volume of limestone chips into the media promotes growth and leaf color. In sealed containers, it can be attached directly on wet limestone rock or something similar.
Offered are mature plants, established in 3" pot
