Syngonium rayii is a truly amazing specie ideal for the terrarium or vivarium. It is native to Costa Rica and Panama. Unlike other species, its arrowhead shaped leaves are velvety and iridescent in almost black color with a silver line down the middle. As the plant matures it will sometimes lose the silver line down the center of the leaf. Even so, its velvety black foliage with sheen alone really makes the leaves stand out.
It is a compact and rather a slow grower, usually sends out wiry runners that sprout new plants where they land.
