Unlike most Selaginella that perform well under low light, Selaginella tamariscina does best under light shade. Actually they tolerate even under direct sun, if provide good humidity. In serious conditions i.e. too cold or too dry weather, the leaves roll into the center to protect the crown. After getting warmer, or raising humidity, they will roll out again and recover fast. This specie is restricted to karst limestone so adding 10% by volume of limestone chips in to the potting mix promotes growth and leaf color.
