Little seems to be known about this Marchantia species, other than its origin in Japan. It forms large and broad pinnules that are iridescent and vary from deep green to bluish green - depending upon light and pH levels. The medium light exposure (950-1,200 Lux) with pH above 7.0 promotes the best color.
