This fern is widely cultivated under the name Microsorum pteropus or Java Fern. In fact, it is a highly variable species with numerous different geographic varieties that vary in leaf size and shape. Our selection is a specimen collected in Peninsular Malaysia, with distinctive, heavily textured, broad rippled fronds that eventually change to trident shape when mature. With good light and nutritions, new growth is also in red-orange color.
This fern is a lithophyt so require very coarse, porous media to do well. Can also grow submerge as an aquatic plant if provide cool and pure water.
Offers are starter plants, established in 4" pot
