Wholesale order
This is general guide and can vary slightly according to country. Following is just a summary of typical wholesale order process.
This guide is intended for using by prospective customers and contains general information which is covered in more detail for specific countries. If you read this guide and are interested in placing a wholesale order with us, please contact us with your nursery/company details.
Minimum order value
The minimum order value per shipment is $500 for ferns and other tropical plants and $400 for tropical mosses . Phytosanitary certificate and CITES certificate (if any, especially for tree-ferns) are included at no extra charge. Freight and other services if required, such as specific chemical treatments or additional declarations are provided at cost.
How we ship
Typically plants are shipped bared-rooted (see example offered size here). However, we have changed our growing material to sterile, soil-less medium. This makes export potted plants is possible for some countries. Even so, our bared root plants are not actually complete bared root by washing. Because of using sterile material, we just remove pot and 2/3 of media. Root systems do not fully destroyed and the plants can recover shortly after transport.
Shipping methods
There are 2 methods of shipment; Express Mail Service (EMS) and Airlines Freight;
Express Mail Service : This method is ideal for small to medium size orders (under 80 plants) and available to most destinations. In some countries, it is a comprehensive door-to-door service and customs clearance is handled by postal staffs. In other countries, the importer has to attend their local post office personally for customs clearance.
Unlike airlines freight which charged by the volumatric weight, EMS charged by actual weight. Since bared rooted plants are light weight and are shipped with protective packing, EMS is very economical, particularly for low value plants of larger size.
The disadvantaged of EMS is that the sizes of the box sent by this service is limited and it is impossible to combine several boxes together under a single airwaybill. This means larger shipments sent by EMS must have completely individual set of documentation. Note that we can provide only one set and buyers are responsible for others.
Airlines Freight : We work together with experienced and reliable export agents to arrange flight and handle shipments to your preferred destination airports, where it must then be cleared and shipped onward to the final destination. This is usually handed by an accredited broker appointed by you as the importer. However, using brokers always raising cost, thus, air freight is often used only for large shipments, where economical of scale are beneficial.
Documentation
We provide a certificate of plant health (phytosanitary certificate) free of charge with each shipment. This is a basic document stating that the plants are substantially free of pests and diseases. However, some countries (see further details here) require an import permit to accompany with our export paperwork and the plants being shipped and/or additional declarations that the plants prior to export had been inspected and free from specific pests or treated with specific chemical treatments. If this is the case, it is importer responsibility to inform us of the current import requirement and also the precise wording of any additional declaration that may be required. We charge the actual cost involved in obtaining additional declaration (if any) and will include it in the draft invoice.
